Gedo Senki

Gedo Senki (Tales from Earthsea) is the first directorial effort from Goro Miyazaki, Hayao Miyazaki’s son. The animated film was recently rated the #2 most anticipated movie of the year in Japan (right behind the über-awesome looking destruction epic The Sinking of Japan). Based upon the popular book series by fantasy author Ursula K. LeGuin, Gedo Senki will utilize some brand-spanking new animation technology that has recently been developed by Studio Ghibli. A U.S. release with distribution by Disney and Pixar is likely in the near future.

Oh, and in case you hadn’t already seen it, the teaser for, ahem, Spider-Man 3 is up at Apple. This is going to be good. Very good. They even have a bit of a clip from what was filmed in Cleveland earlier this year!

And this poster excited me, too: The Illusionist was a pick at Sundance earlier this year. Can’t wait for The Prestige, either.

Sleep is for Losers

I have slept very little. I have smiled a lot. I have neglected my homework… um, better get on that.

This weekend is already owning my life. “Woot….unnhhh” seems an appropriate word for it. Let’s see… on Thursday I took my final exam for Economics class with M. Neil Browne, you know, the crazy teacher I ranted about a few weeks back. I passed the class with a solid B. Which, you know, is totally fine with me! I also passed my VCT course with flying colors. Also on Thursday, it stormed a little bit, and I hung out with Anthony Sitter (my good bud going to the Naval Academy).

On Friday, I worked a tidy 8.5 hours at Panera (beginning at 5:30am), before going home for shower and then over to Anthony’s again for cookout, chit chat, music, hang out with many more wonderful people… and try to forget that the girls whooped the guys 2wice at 4onAcouch and 1nce at Guesstures the night before. Then we all tried to go on a boat ride on a mosquito-infested ‘lake’ nearby, but that fell through, so we ate cake. I had to jet from the cookout to see The Tapes perform at Howard’s Club Hirsuite, and then took a tour of the local mini-marts to find something to un-parch my throat. Then I returned to Howard’s for The Press Gang, who played an energetic show straight to its dramatic conclusion at 2:10am. Then I went home for a blink of sleep before waking on…

Saturday! I worked another tidy shift beginning at 5:30am. I got off a little early, headed home and helped set up some chairs and tables for my sister’s graduation party on Sunday. Then I crashed my computer and crashed on my bed for 7 hours, waking for pizza and ping-pong with my cousins before winding down with conversations, baseball, and blogging at night. And now, I have arrived at the present! Tomorrow I will meander around the party, then head over to Phlash Light at night and finishing up the rest of my Module 2 assignment (due midnight!)

You all should head over the Phlash Light blog to read my long-delayed Easter post entitled “Nails”.

Well, ’tis Thursday morning and I am shortly going to depart and finish up my first two classes for good! Yay! Next week I begin Commercial Photography… and currently I’m on Synthesis. Ahhhh…. the Lord is good. And his mercy endures forever… unlike the need to go to College. And he may be the God of crushed dreams sometimes… but he’s always the God of lifted hearts.
